The first competitive game in 2025 is coming up! Before SV Darmstadt 98's away game at Fortuna Düsseldorf (January 17th/6:30pm), the press conference with Florian Kohfeldt took place on Wednesday (January 15th). The winter break is over and the Lilien professionals trained again in Darmstadt for the first time after the training camp in Spain on Tuesday (January 14th). After the session, Clemens Riedel answered questions from journalists in a media round. We report on it. In addition, two coaching legends and two current SV 98 professionals are celebrating their birthdays this week. Opposition Check: Fortuna Düsseldorf
In 2009, over 50,000 spectators were in the sold-out Düsseldorf Arena to watch the third division game between Fortuna and the understudy of SV Werder Bremen in wonderful summer temperatures. A record crowd for the 3rd league. For one simple reason: Fortuna was able to find its way back to the 2nd Bundesliga in this game. No sooner said than done. In the end it was a cross that gave the home team luck. The ball slipped through Bremen's goalkeeper's fingers and the celebration knew no bounds. Düsseldorf ultimately managed the lead until the end – and when Bibiana Steinhaus blew her whistle three times, it was done: Fortuna Düsseldorf was able to call itself a second division team again after ten years of absence.
Lilien fans visit Castellar Oliveral C.F.
As part of the Lilies' training camp in El Saler, 30 Lilies fans and SV 98 club officials visited the sports club „Castellar Oliveral C.F. on Saturday evening (January 11th). Pobles del Sud“, whose sports grounds were completely covered by a layer of mud as a result of the severe storms at the end of October. Around SV 98's home game against Preußen Münster in November, 4,800 euros were raised thanks to cup donations, which were then made available to the club for renovation work.
U17 and U19 start main round in February
In February it starts again for the A and B juniors of SV Darmstadt 98. After the preliminary round, which ended after 14 match days, the youth teams compete in the main round in League B. Exciting and sometimes new opponents await you here.
