3rd Krombacher Fan Tour: Together at Schalke
Nearly one hundred Darmstadt 98 fans participated in the third Krombacher Fan Tour on Friday (October 24th). The destination was the second division match between SV Darmstadt 98 and FC Schalke 04. Following the resounding success of the first (to Dortmund) and second (also to Gelsenkirchen) fan tours, this popular away trip was a resounding success. Despite the 1-0 defeat, the Darmstadt supporters enjoyed a wonderful day, where camaraderie and shared experiences were the main focus.
Early in the morning – around 8:30am – two coaches packed with Darmstadt 98 fans set off: Approximately one hundred supporters of the club departed from Darmstadt for Krombach. There, the first of many activities awaited them: an exciting tour of the Krombacher Brewery. Afterwards, all participants enjoyed refreshments in the brewery’s taproom, savouring the Krombacher trifecta of bread, ham, and beer, along with a selection of other beverages from the Krombacher range. In high spirits and well-fed, they then continued on to Gelsenkirchen.
There, on the occasion of the 10th matchday of the second division, the Friday evening game between SV Darmstadt 98 and FC Schalke 04 was on the cards, which the participants of the Krombacher Fan Tour watched together from the stands. In the end, SV Darmstadt 98 suffered a 1-0 defeat. However, the result was secondary that day – the shared experience of the fan tour was what truly mattered.
