5-1 win in Fürth!
With a consistently successful performance, SV 98 won 5:1 (3:0) at SpVgg Greuther Fürth - and it was well deserved. Förster (30th), Lakenmacher (40th) and Lidberg (45th) laid the foundation in a dominant first half. Corredor (51') and Lopez (77') pushed the score further up after the break. A concentrated and mature performance cemented a fine victory.
In the away game at SpVgg Greuther Fürth, SV 98 tried to take control of the game right from the start. Both teams approached the goal cautiously, but a shot from Killian Corredor flew past the goal on 6 minutes and on the other side Green’s long-range shot was parried away by Marcel Schuhen in the 8th.
Overall, the 98ers defended with concentration, but rarely found good solutions on offense. In the 26th minute of the game, Matej Maglica had a good chance to take the lead: after a free kick from Fabian Nürnberger, the central defender appeared free in front of the keeper, but narrowly missed the ball. Four minutes later the Lilies took the lead: Corredor crossed into the middle, two Fürth players collided and Philipp Förster scored at the far post.
With the lead behind them, the South Hesse team remained secure, hardly allowed any shots and countered to make it 2-0: via Förster and Isac Lidberg the ball came to substitute Fynn Lakenmacher, who scored on the turn 5 minutes before the interval. In the third minute of stoppage time, Lidberg even made it 3-0: After a cross from Lakenmacher, everyone in the middle missed the ball before the Swede converted at the back post with his eighth goal of the season. The South Hessians rewarded themselves for a very concentrated, mature 45 minutes.
After the break, the Lilies simply continued scoring goals: 6 minutes after the break, Corredor prevailed strongly against his opponent, moved towards the penalty area and scored from outside the area to make four. Six minutes later the home team threatened but Schuhen was equal to the effort from Srbeny.
The 98ers then controlled the game a lot, but also lurked for space and thus repeatedly caused danger. Tobias Kempe tested Noll in the Fürth goal in the 72nd minute: After Nürnberger’s lay-off, the veteran took a shot and Noll just managed to save.
13 minutes before the end of the game, Sergio López increased the score to 5-0: after a fine pass from Förster, the Spaniard lofted the ball over the keeper and into the net. The hosts grabbed a consolation in the final minute through Hrgota.
