+++ Anniversary for our manager +++

On Saturday (09/03/3.30pm) Darmstadt will be the guest in Leipzig. A special anniversary is coming up for Torsten Lieberknecht on this 25th matchday. The 50-year-old is taking charge of his 98th competitive game as head coach of the Lilies. Under him he made it into the Bundesliga last season. Always fully committed and always with the best interests in mind for Darmstadt – Lieberknecht lives and breathes the club. His start in Darmstadt was a bit bumpy, but this was followed by regular lavish football festivals and two extremely successful league seasons. We warmly congratulate you on your anniversary!

+++ „You must fight“ +++

“You have to fight!” A sentence coined by Jonathan “Johnny” Heimes and which can give the Lilies strength and courage even in the current situation. Heimes was diagnosed with cancer for the first time at the age of 14, and the Darmstadt native died on August 8th at the age of 26 in March 2016 after years of fighting the disease. Despite his illness, Johnny always retained his courage to live and gave hope and courage to many other affected people with his motto. His initiative DUMUSSTKAMPFEN! lives on to this day and supports children with cancer and their families. His motto is the SV 98 is firmly anchored to this day. His bracelets continue to dangle from numerous wrists around the Böllenfalltor. We admire you for your fighting spirit and remain in silent memory of you and your achievements. We miss you, Johnny!

+++ Second team twice in action +++

The Lilies fan team was recently in action twice. Against TSG Messel last Sunday (03/03), the second team didn’t get more than one point. In Ostendstrasse, the team failed to extend their lead after a 2-1 half-time lead and good chances in the second 45 minutes. This led to a competitive and turbulent final phase in which TSG equalised in the 90th minute. A bitter blow for the second team: in the 4th minute of stoppage time, they missed a penalty and thus missed the chance to get three points very late. But the reaction to the draw followed immediately last Tuesday (March 5). Against SKG Roßdorf II, the second team from SV 98 turned a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1.

+++ Will the second team climb into the top three? +++

The second team is now in fourth place in the table with 38 points. The goal tally of a whopping 74 goals means the second best offense in the league. Next Sunday (March 10th/1 pm) the Lilies will be visiting RSV Germania Pfungstadt II. With 77 goals conceded, the Pfungstadters have the second-worst defense in the league and are currently 14th. With ten points from the last four games, the SV fan team is 98th in great shape and has the opportunity to climb to third place with three points this weekend.

+++ End of the season for the eLilien +++

The eLilien enter the last matchday of the VBL season today (March 6th). They will host second-placed Leipzig at 7 p.m. As second to last in the table, it will be a complicated task for the eLilien to score three times. After a difficult phase between the end of the first half of the season and the start of the second half of the season, the eFootballers have recently improved and were able to double their points in the last eight match days. However, this didn’t change anything in terms of position in the table. The eLilien would have had to reach 14th place for the German Championships, but at least Amin and Nawd still have the opportunity to qualify via the final of the wildcard tournament on Saturday (09/03/2 p.m.) or through the draw for the VBL Open .
