98-year-old becomes a member / largest team photo in club history

At 98, Oskar Steinmann became the oldest member of the Lilies – and was there to witness his Lilies' 2-1 victory against Braunschweig at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor. A few days later, the fans of Darmstadt 98 made club history: Around 1,600 members gathered for the largest team photo in the Lilies' history. At the age of 98, Oskar Steinmann signed his membership application in the VIP box at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor, making him the oldest member of the Lilies. However, the stadium appointment almost wasn’t possible. The 98-year-old had suffered a severe stroke just three weeks earlier. With an escort and a walker, he still made it to his home stadium, the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor. Equipped with a scarf, hat, and ID, Oskar Steinmann watched the Lilies‘ 2-1 victory.

On Tuesday (September 16th) at 5pm, the Bölle gates opened. A historic event was on the Lilien fans‘ schedule. This year’s team photo was intended to be the biggest in Lilien history. To achieve this goal, the members of the 98 team received an invitation in advance to participate in the team photo. But the picture wasn’t the only item on the agenda for the fans. Plenty of food and beverages were available on-site throughout the event, as well as a mobile stand with specially discounted products. Then, at 6pm, it was time for the photo shoot. But there was more to it than just the shutter button. Chants and good cheer rounded out the event. Afterwards, the team mingled with the fans and diligently sign autographs.

The SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team will be visiting TSV Eintracht Stadtallendorf next Saturday (September 20th). Kickoff is at 2pm. The youngsters will be aiming to remain unbeaten in their sixth consecutive competitive match. Every Lilies who doesn’t have anything to do on Saturday is cordially invited to support the young Lilies!

+++ Fan team brings home a point +++

The Lilien fan team visited FC Sturm Darmstadt this weekend, drawing 2-2 after a thrilling match. The team was able to equalise a goal conceded in the 37th minute before halftime with a goal from Julian Schreiber (43′). With their first attack after the restart, FC Sturm took the lead again (46′). But the fan team had another answer, scoring the final goal in the 68th minute. The fan team’s next game is on Wednesday (September 24th, 7:30pm), with a home game against Türk Gücü Darmstadt II.

+++ Opening of the new City fan shop +++

SV Darmstadt 98 invites its fans to the opening of its new city fan shop. Only on opening day, there will be a 10 percent discount on the entire product range. The new Fast Live Collection will also be available for the first time.

As part of the reopening, the club would like to point out that the fan shop at Friedensplatz will be permanently closed on September 22nd.

The Lilies are looking forward to celebrating this special day together with many fans.
