“A fair 1:1”

First, Isac Lidberg scored with a tap-in, then Hertha BSC equalised with an own goal by Aleksandar Vukotic. The two teams finished 1-1, with the Lilies taking a point from the capital. How do Florian Kohfeldt and Stefan Leitl assess the 90 minutes at the Olympiastadion? What do the Darmstadt players have to say about the match? We've compiled all the comments on the 1-1 draw between Hertha and SV 98 for you.

Florian Kohfeldt:

„Both teams deserved the point in different phases of the game. Hertha pressed in the final 20 minutes, but we were lucky at the end when Leistner’s shot hit the post. In the previous 70 minutes, I thought we were very good without possession. Up until the 1-1, we didn’t concede anything. Overall, we could have been more determined with our good positional play and plenty of possession. We had a lot of control, but we also invested a lot of players. Nevertheless, we created four great chances and converted one of them. Overall, I’m totally satisfied with our performance. Against a high-quality team that has recently won three games in a row, we managed to secure a solid point. So, I’m happy with our performance and the point.“

Stefan Leitl:

„Flo analysed it well. We had our problems in the first half with Darmstadt’s good positional play. Both teams were careful not to give their opponents too much depth. From the game, I saw both defences well organised, with chances in the first half only coming from set pieces. In the second half, we wanted to attack the ten-yard box more. It wasn’t until after the 0-1 goal that we managed to do that. The reaction and energy level after conceding the goal were good. We deserved to equalise. After that, both teams had two great chances – Darmstadt through Bueno, us through Leistner. So, overall, it’s a fair draw.“

Jean-Paul Boëtius:

„We closed down the spaces very well from the start and were relaxed and patient in possession. This meant that Hertha had little access to us. We also had two great opportunities before halftime through Isac and Vuko. We could have taken the lead there. Then we came out of the break really well and made it 1-0. But of course, it’s difficult to dominate a game for the entire match. Especially against a team like Hertha, who kept trying different things. The goal we conceded was unfortunate; in the final stages, we sat deeper and defended the one point. Of course, you’re always a bit disappointed when you only take a point after taking the lead, but overall, we can be satisfied with our performance.“

Clemens Riedel:

„Looking at the game as a whole, it’s probably a fair 1-1. We played really well for 60 or 70 minutes and could have even made it 2-0. After that, we let Hertha come back a bit and had to defend a lot to secure the point. We also had a bit of luck with the shot that hit the post. We were very dominant in the first half, and I would have expected Hertha to press us higher. We found good space and conceded little, but we lacked a bit of penetration in the final third. The point helps us and is another step towards staying up.“
