An outstanding half brings U21 their third win in a row
Third win in a row for the U21s. In a strong first half, SV Darmstadt 98 II laid the foundation for the 3-0 home win against SV Weidenhausen. This means that the Lilies continue to climb up the Lotto Hessenliga table and are now in 13th place.
From the start, SV 98 II had the game completely under control. The ball ran safely through the Darmstadt team’s ranks and the hosts didn’t let anything go wrong defensively. Things got really dangerous offensively in the 26th minute: Fabio Torsiello broke through on the wing and played a cross pass to Nico Baier, who just had to sink the ball into the goal (1-0). A full three minutes later it was the Lilies that struck again. This is how Torsiello initiated the goal to make it 2-0. The visitors‘ goalkeeper could only push away the shot. Baier took the rebound and passed it over to Georgios Makridis, who just had to push it into the empty goal. Shortly before the break, it was Makridis again (45th) who put the ball in the opponent’s box after a low cross from Baier and made things clear before the break.
After the break, SV Darmstadt 98 gave SV Weidenhausen more space. The guests took advantage of this and now came more often in front of the home team’s goal, who were no longer able to take advantage of their own transition moments as well. But a good ‚keeper and an overall secure defense ensured that there was a clean sheet for 90 minutes and the U21s‘ young Lilies scored their third win in a row.
„The victory was well deserved and we are of course happy that we have now won three times in a row. Now we want to stick with it and keep scoring,“ coach Daniel Petrowsky emphasised to sv98.de.
The Junglilien can collect more points next Sunday (October 27th/3pm) when they go away to SV Steinbach. The game is played on the grass field in Burghaun-Steinbach on Mittelstrasse.
