“Assist or goal” | Fan team victorious for the first time

The Lilies are looking forward to the next league game against 1. FC Nürnberg. But before the ball rolls again at the Böllenfalltor in the Merck Stadium on Sunday (August 25th/1:30pm), Isac Lidberg told us more about himself and his debut in the Lilies jersey in his first media round. In addition, the fan team was in good shape and the U15 Junglilien worked successfully in the training camp. And the Lilien family can also look forward to two birthdays this week. You can find out all this in our weekly section “Lilies across the Board”.

+++ Isac Lidberg with a successful Lilien debut +++

“Assist or goal?” Isac Lidberg was asked in his first media round as a Lily professional by the virtually connected journalists. Without much hesitation, the Swedish attacker replied: “Goal”. But it showed that he is also an unselfish striker Lidberg already made his competitive debut for SV 98 against Teutonia Ottensen when he passed the ball across to Oscar Vilhelmsson and thus prepared the decisive goal to make the final score 3-1. „Hopefully next time I’ll get an assist from him,“ joked new number seven for the Lilies with an eye on his Swedish teammate. When asked about his own strengths, Lidberg replied: “I’m good at going into depth. I’m pretty fast and always on the move.“ That’s exactly what he wants to prove in the league in the coming weeks.

+++ The first points for the fan team +++

With the Capitano comethe first points of the season. Fabian Holland acted as at least a little lucky charm for the SV Darmstadt 98 fan team last Wednesday (August 14th). In Darmstadt’s second game in the new District League C season, the Lilies collected their first point. While the injured captain watched the game against Germania Eberstadt II from the stands, the fan team scored a 1-1 draw. However, things went even better last Saturday when the “Zwote” were finally able to celebrate their first win of the season. The Lilies won a narrow 4-3 away win at SKG Nieder-Beerbach. With four points now in the bag, the game continues next Saturday (August 24th). The duel with TuS Griesheim kicks off at 4pm in Pfungstadt.

+++ Develop a sense of unity: U15 completes training camp +++

The newly formed U15 of SV Darmstadt 98 competed from August 15th to 17th, their training camp in Breisach am Rhein. In addition to sporting points, the focus was also on creating team spirit. With a total of five training sessions, the Junglilien completed their summer preparation and laid the foundation for the upcoming season. At the end, the U15 of the 98s were able to present themselves in three demanding test matches: As part of the Sibre Cup in Heiger, the Junglilien played 1. FC Köln (2-0), Schalke 04 (1-1) and Eintracht Frankfurt (0-0). “We are absolutely satisfied with our training camp and the conditions on site. In addition to further developing the sporting content, developing a sense of community also played an important role for us in the preparation. Our training camp created the optimal conditions for us to get to know each other even better and develop a feeling of togetherness,” said the head coach of the U15, Eric Ledwina, summarising the short but intensive time in the training camp.

+++ Happy Birthday, David Ackermann! +++

Physiotherapist David Ackermann will be 36 years old onThursday (August 22nd). Ackermann has been working as a physio for the Lilies since summer 2022. Thank you for your daily work and we wish you a happy birthday, David!

+++ Congratulations, Uwe Kuhl! +++

Next Saturday (August 24th) Uwe Kuhl will celebrate his 63rd birthday. He is a former Lilien professional and current presidential representative for the NLZ and sporting development at SV Darmstadt 98. Before he moved to the administrative side, Kuhl once wore the SVD jersey for many seasons. During his active playing career, he played 214 games as a center forward for the blue-whites and scored a total of 75 times, which moved him to second place on the SV 98’s all-time record goalscorer list. Today, Kuhl only hunts for goals for the traditional Lilien team. We warmly congratulate our long-time member of the Executive Board on his special day and wish only the best!

Darmstadt's 2-1 defeat at Karlsruher SC also ended any remaining theoretical hopes the South Hessian club had of finishing the season in the top three. The loss at the Wildpark stadium served somewhat as a symbol for the past few weeks, during which SV 98 had only managed one point from five matches since the international break in March. Following the game on Sunday afternoon, the Darmstadt players addressed the assembled media representatives with mixed feelings.
