Bader & Will back in team training | Comfort blankets for newborns

Sergio Lopez is pleased about the return of two teammates: Matthias Bader and Paul Will were able to train together for the first time on Tuesday (September 30th). Furthermore, Lilien comfort blankets for newborns are now available in Darmstadt hospitals, advance sales for the Christmas Carols on December 22nd have begun, and the fan base experienced a busy week of training. This weekend, in addition to the away game against Holstein Kiel (October 4th at 1pm), there are also two birthdays in the Lilien family. You can read about this and much more in our "Lilien Across the Board" section.

+++ Lopez is happy about Bader & Will's comeback +++

Sergio Lopez has unfortunately experienced the rigours of a cruciate ligament injury firsthand in his career. His teammates Paul Will and Mathias Bader endured the same ordeal last year. But on Tuesday (September 30th), the Lilies were able to announce some good news: Will and Bader participated in team training together for the first time after a long period of suffering. Lopez is very pleased about this, as he emphasised in a media briefing on Tuesday. „At the beginning, I spoke to both of them a lot. I know how it feels to be off the pitch for so long,“ explained the Lilies‘ number two, adding: „Overall, they’ve worked very well and are now fit and ready to go.“ The fact that Bader, like Lopez, plays at right back doesn’t bother the Spaniard. Rather, he’s happy about the competition. „It’s good that he’s back now. You play better when someone puts pressure on you,“ Lopez said.

+++ Cuddle cloths for newborns +++

SV Darmstadt 98 is delighted to announce a very special campaign for the youngest members of the Heiner family in Darmstadt: Effective immediately, all parents whose children are born at the Alice Hospital or the Darmstadt Clinic will receive a blue and white Lilien comfort blanket as a gift. With this, the club aims to warmly welcome the new families and give even the youngest children their first taste of Lilien home.

In addition to the comfort blanket, parents also have the opportunity to integrate their child into the larger SV Darmstadt 98 community early on. A membership makes an excellent birth gift – and best of all, newborns are completely free of charge for the first year of their membership.

+++ English week for the fan team +++

The SV Darmstadt 98 fan base experienced a busy week in the Kreisliga B. Last Wednesday (September 24th), the Lilies played at home against Türk Gücü Darmstadt II. The SVD fan base took the lead in the 27th minute, but Türk Gücü equalized shortly before halftime. In the second half, the visitors extended their lead with a goal in the 48th minute, making it 1-2. The Lilies‘ attack quickly countered, with Marius Wetter slotting the ball into the net just eight minutes later. Despite great commitment, Darmstadt 98’s second team could not withstand the visitors‘ strong attack. As a result, the Lilies conceded three more goals – the final score was 2-5.

Just four days later, on Sunday (September 28th), the fan team faced SV Kamerun Darmstadt. The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute, but the Lilies showed fighting spirit and equalised in the 36th minute through Julian Schreiber. The score remained a fair 1-1 until the final whistle.

With eight points now collected, the SV Darmstadt 98 fan team is in twelfth place after nine matchdays. Next Sunday (October 5th), the Lilies will play against third-placed RSV Pfungstadt. Kick-off is at 3pm on the artificial turf pitch on Ostendstraße in Pfungstadt.

+++ Happy Birthday, Coach! +++

Florian Kohfeldt has been coaching SV Darmstadt 98 for over a year. And on Sunday (October 5th), the Lilies‘ head coach will also be in the spotlight in his personal life. Kohfeldt will be celebrating his 43rd birthday. We wish the 98ers‘ head coach all the best on this special day, much success, happiness, and above all, good health. Dear Flo, enjoy your birthday (hopefully after an away win in Kiel) and have a great start to the coming week!

+++ Happy Birthday, Micha! +++

On Sunday (October 5th), another Lily celebrates his special day: Michael Richter, a long-time coach of the team, is celebrating his 53rd birthday. We warmly congratulate him and wish him health, happiness, and continued enjoyment in his work with the team.
