Bialek signs for SV 98

The Lilies have signed another attacker: Bartosz Bialek will now be on the hunt for goals for SV 98. The Pole is already at the training camp in Bad Wörishofen and will make his first appearance on Tuesday morning.

Paul Fernie: „Bartosz possesses tremendous qualities. He’s a complete centre forward with a two-footed finish, strong heading skills, and high game intelligence. However, we’re also aware that he’s barely seen any playing time in the recent past due to injury. We’re pleased to have found a solution with Bartosz that takes this background into account. Given our current squad configuration up front, we therefore view the signing as a low-risk, high-reward move.“

Bartosz Bialek: „The discussions with the management went very well; they presented me with a clear plan. I really wanted to go to Darmstadt and therefore decided against other offers. It certainly doesn’t hurt that I already know coach Florian Kohfeldt and have a feel for what he expects from me in my position. I’m looking forward to the new challenge in Darmstadt and see it as an opportunity to show what I’m capable of after a difficult period. I feel physically fit and ready to prove myself.“

Bialek played for Zaglebie Lublin’s youth team from 2014 to 2019, making his senior debut at the age of 17. In 19 Ekstraklasa matches, he scored nine goals and provided four assists. He then moved to VfL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2020 at the age of 18. In his first season with the „Wolves,“ Bialek appeared in 19 Bundesliga matches (2 goals), also scoring in four DFB-Pokal matches and one Europa League qualifier. In the 2021/22 season, he appeared in twelve Bundesliga matches before being loaned to Vitesse Arnhem at the end of the season. There, he made 25 Eredivisie appearances (5 goals, 2 assists). In the summer of 2023, Bialek was loaned out again, this time to KAS Eupen. However, two serious injuries in the past two seasons prevented him from demonstrating his qualities over a longer period.

Bialek made a total of 22 appearances for his native Poland at youth level. He also demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess for the national team: he scored three goals in seven matches for the U19 team and four in ten matches for the U21 team.

Bialek will wear the number 27 for SV 98.
