Immanuel Höhn has had a turbulent past six months. “72 hours between the end of his career and the first competitive game as a coach,” writes the 32-year-old on his own LinkedIn profile. The former Lilien central defender, who was under contract at the Böllenfalltor from 2016 to 2021, wanted to end his professional career with SV 98’s upcoming cup opponents. Höhn played for FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen from September 2023 until spring 2024. Then suddenly things happened very quickly. “It wasn’t just a jump into the cold, but straight into the ice,” said the Mainz native, who was appointed interim head coach of Teutonia on February 27th this year until the summer. Just as a teammate with the boys in the dressing room. Then suddenly the coach makes the announcements. A challenge, a roller coaster ride of emotions. In his first coaching position, Höhn led Teutonia Ottensen to ninth place in the Regionalliga Nord and also won the Hamburg State Cup, which is why his men qualified for the DFB Cup. Or as Höhn himself summarises: “From player to coach overnight and at the end there is a cup victory that fills me with great pride.”
