From then on, the FCM showed themselves to be much more present and repeatedly created promising opportunities. In the 33rd minute, Krempicki’s head hit the woodwork. The Lilies were no longer able to free themselves from the clutches, but they could have taken the lead after 38 minutes: Marseiler found Hornby with a great pass, but Riemann was able to fend off the shot.
After the restart, Darmstadt were caught straight away: Krempicki used a cross from the left to give Magdeburg the lead on 48 minutes when he side footed home.
