The game between the Lilies and FSV Mainz 05 started at a frenetic pace: there was a lot of speed in the game in the first few minutes and both teams had good opportunities. The first went to the home team, but Marcel Schuhen got down low to turn Burkardt’s shot around the post after 5 minutes. From the following corner, the Lilies countered and the Zentner was able to clear in front of Mathias Honsak who was chasing the ball forward. The Mainz team now always had space for counterattacks and so the Lilies were lucky that Amiri pushed the ball past the far post in the 63rd minute.
As the game drew to a close, Lee was able to grab himself a brace in the 80th and then 85th minutes. On 80 minutes, he was able to flick home a low cross into the area and then converted another ball into the area.
