Sports director Paul Fernie: “Klaus Gjasula approached us at short notice with the desire to join another club. He wants to see more playing time, which we can’t promise him given the second half of the season. Since the economic conditions were right, we agreed to Rot-Weiss Essen’s offer. We would like to thank Klaus for the time we spent together and his services to the Lilies. We wish him all the best for his sporting and private future.”
Klaus Gjasula: “It is very difficult for me to leave the Lilies because I felt very comfortable in the city and in the club. I really enjoyed the three and a half years and will always look back on this time fondly. I wish Darmstadt 98 and its fans all the best and will continue to follow the club’s progress from afar. I keep my fingers crossed for the Lilies that they can build on the results of the past few months in the second half of the season.”
Gjasula moved from Hamburger SV to SV 98 in August 2021 and immediately became a regular player in Darmstadt. In the 2022/23 season he celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga with the Lilies. He played in 22 games there last season. In total, the Albanian wore the Lily on his chest in 67 competitive games.
SV 98 wishes Klaus Gjasula all the best for his future journey.
