Desolate home performance
A bitter defeat in the last home game of the season: against TSG Hoffenheim they lost a clear 0:6 (0:5) in their last Bundesliga home game.
In the home game against TSG Hoffenheim, the Lilies got off to another disastrous start and were 2-0 behind after just six minutes. Bebou in the second minute rounded Alexander Brunst and slotted home and then on six minutes, Beier finished past Brunst.
In the period that followed, the guests controlled the game and the Darmstadt team failed to develop. However, there were hardly any chances to score on Hoffenheim’s side during this phase. Pavel Kaderabak added a third after 22 minutes as he raced cleared and fired in off the far post. Four minutes later, Kabak made it 4-0 following a corner as he rose unchallenged to flick home. One minute before the half-time whistle, Beier scored his second to make the score 0-5. This marked the end of a first half that was absolutely needed from Lilien’s point of view.
After the break, the home side were a little more active and had shots through Seydel in the first minute of the half and Skarke saw an effort blocked 3 minutes into the half. The visitors showed how it was done though on 51 minutes as Bebou danced through the area and slotted home.
Substitute Gerrit Holtmann had the next shot for the Lilies, but his attempt flew over the bar on 63 minutes. A little later, Kramaric replicated the effort from Holtmann as he lifted one over the bar.
In stoppage time, Seydel did find the back of the net but the goal was chalked off for a high boot.
Overall, not much happened and the 98ers suffered a clear 6-0 defeat.
