Yesterday, Wednesday evening (August 14th), Daniel Petrowsky’s team competed at the state border of Hesse and Baden-Württemberg – more precisely in Gorxheimertal. There the U21 met the newly promoted team SV Unter-Flockenbach. In the first half, the Junglilien had the game largely under control and were strong offensively. The blue-whites, who were very stable defensively, created several chances – including a hit on the crossbar and a solo effort on the opponent’s goal. However, Darmstadt were missing the last bit of luck.
Shortly after the break it was Georgios Makridis who gave the Lilies the lead. “We took the lead, but then we couldn’t play with complete confidence,” explained Petrowsky and added: “The opponent put us under pressure and scored the equaliser in the end.” So the Lilies now have four points in their account after four match days.
A win on Wednesday evening would at least have been possible. “So the negative feelings outweigh the negative feelings because we wanted to win the game. We invested a lot, but couldn’t reward ourselves because we again lacked efficiency in front of the goal,“ complained the U21 coach. Petowsky continued: “Nevertheless, you can see that the boys keep pushing their performance limits in all games and invest a lot. I am convinced that if we continue to do exactly that, we will be rewarded in the next games.”
The Lilies have their next chance for three points next Sunday (August 18th) in the away game at FC Eddersheim, who already have two wins to their name. Kick-off on the grass field in Hattersheim-Eddersheim is at 3pm.
Line Up: Rohde – Arania, Sauer, Crößmann, Arnold, Grbic, Streller, Ballmert (C.), Zelic (Schlosser, 80′), Baier (Jung, 68′), Makridis (Gegg, 87′)
