Arrival / Parking

By car/nine-seater/coach:

You can reach the VELTINS-Arena by bus and car via the various highways in the Ruhr region.

Coming from the A2, take exits 6 (Gelsenkirchen-Buer) and 7 (Herten), and from the A42, take exit 17 (Gelsenkirchen-Schalke). From these exits, the route to the stadium is signposted.

Parking:
The guest parking spaces for cars and buses are accessed via „Berni-Klodt-Weg.“ Buses turn left into the Gelsenwasser parking lot, which has a €20 parking fee, which is collected upon entry. Cars turn right into parking lot E (E1 to E3). The parking fee is €5 per vehicle and can be paid either at one of the pay machines or conveniently via the app. Information on the parking process can be found in the attached flyer. Those who arrive at least two hours before kickoff do nothing and park for free.

By public transport:
If you are traveling by public transport, please go to Gelsenkirchen Central Station. Shuttle buses to the VELTINS Arena are available at the southern exit of the station if needed. These also go to the Gelsenwasser parking lot. If no buses are available, you can travel to the stadium with the S04 fans on tram line 302 towards Buer/Arena.

People with limited mobility can reach the arena by tram line 302 via the „Willy-Brandt-Allee“ stop. This stop is step-free and only slightly further from the arena. From here, please follow the signs.

Walking to the stadium:
From the parking lot, head north along Berni-Klodt-Weg to reach the entrances to the VELTINS Arena.

If you have any questions, our volunteers will be happy to assist you near the entrances. You can recognise them by their green jackets.

Stadium

  • The stadium opens two hours before kick-off, at 4:30pm on Friday.
  • Box office: There will be NO (!) box office at Schalke on Friday.
  • Ideally, please leave any bags larger than A4 at home or in your car/bus; they are not permitted inside the arena. If you do need to bring a larger bag, you can drop it off free of charge at the South Entrance. You will receive a deposit token, and you can collect your belongings after the game.
  • TIFO material: Flags with a pole length of up to two metres, as well as fence flags, may be brought in without a permit. Megaphones and drums are permitted only in standing area blocks V and W. The guest area has three platforms. Climbing and using them is at your own risk.

Some further tips to make your stay in the arena easier:

  • Tube scarves are not permitted; you can leave them at the drop-off points.
  • The blood alcohol limit at the entrance is 1.6 per mille, and random checks are carried out.
  • In the VELTINS Arena, cashless payments are made using the Knappenkarte (Knappen Card). Alternatively, payment is also possible quickly and easily using EC, debit, or credit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • We also serve fresh, alcoholic VELTINS in our guest area.

Fans with disabilities:

  • Away fans with wheelchair access always receive a parking ticket for Parkallee. Access to the VELTINS Arena is always via Adenauerallee and Parkallee (even during so-called „safety matches“). The stadium is accessed via the special entrance at the Charly Neumann Bridge.
  • For visually impaired fans, a wireless headset is available throughout the VELTINS Arena. The device can be requested from S04.
  • Deaf away fans will be accommodated in Schalke’s deaf block, where sign language interpretation will be provided by interpreters.
  • Further interesting information about the arena and accessible facilities in the surrounding area can be found in the Bundesliga travel guide „Barrier-free access to the stadium“ by the DFL Foundation

CONTACT POINT – Code word: “Where is Elli?”

The #stehtauf contact point is located in the rear area of the Schalke Museum, accessible via stairwell 13, and also accessible to away fans. The advice centre serves as a point of contact for people who have been victims of discriminatory, racist, and sexist behavior or violence at Schalke. Violations of the S04 mission statement and the VELTINS Arena stadium regulations can also be reported. Visitors will then be referred—if they wish—to the appropriate specialist and advisory services. Furthermore, the #stehtauf contact point will be used to collect and evaluate incidents and observations. Furthermore, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that right-wing extremist ideology and corresponding symbolism have no place at Schalke. The Thor Steinar brand is mentioned here as an example; an overview of all symbolism and further explanations can be found at schalke04.de.
