You can reach the VELTINS Arena by bus and car via the various motorways in the Ruhr area. Coming from the A2 you can take exits 6 (Gelsenkirchen-Buer) and 7 (Herten), from the A42 you can take exit 17 (Gelsenkirchen-Schalke) directly to the VELTINS Arena. The paths to the stadium are signposted from the junctions.

Parking:

The guest parking spaces for cars and buses are on the “Berni-Klodt-Weg” approach. Buses turn left there into the Gelsenwasser car park, for which there is a 20 euro parking fee, which is collected upon entry. Cars turn right into parking lot E2. The parking fee is 5 euros per vehicle and can be paid either at one of the pay machines or conveniently via the app. Information about the parking process can be found in the attached flyer. If you drive into the parking lot at least two hours before kick-off, you don’t have to do anything and park for free.

By public transport:

If you arrive by public transport, please go to Gelsenkirchen main station. If necessary, shuttle buses to the VELTINS Arena are available at the southern exit of the train station. These also head for the Gelsenwasser car park. If there are no buses available, you and the S04 fans can take the tram line 302 towards Buer/Arena to the stadium. People with limited mobility can reach the arena with the tram line 302 via the “Willy-Brandt-Allee” stop. This stop has no stairs and is only slightly further away from the arena. From here please follow the signs.

Walking distance to the stadium:

From the parking spaces you can reach the entrances to the VELTINS Arena via the Berni-Klodt-Weg in a northerly direction. If you have any questions, our volunteers are available to help you with advice and assistance in the entrance area; you can recognise the team by their green jackets.

  • The stadium opens two hours before kick-off, at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
  • There will be an evening box office on Friday for those who decide at short notice. The East ticket office is located at Entrance East 2 (guest seating area).
  • Ideally, please leave your bags larger than A4 at home or in the car/bus; they are not allowed into the arena. If you need to carry a larger bag with you, you can hand it in free of charge at the South Entrance and East 2. You will be given a deposit token and can pick up your property after the game.

  • The alcohol limit at the entrance is 1.6 per mille; random checks are carried out.
  • In the VELTINS Arena you can pay cashless with the Knappencard; Alternatively, payment via EC, debit or credit card as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay is now possible via contactless.
  • We also serve fresh alcoholic VELTINS in the guest area.

Fans with disabilities:

  • Guest fans with a wheelchair space always receive a parking ticket for the Parkallee. Access to the VELTINS Arena is always (even during so-called “safety games”) via Adenauerallee and Parkallee; the stadium can be accessed via the special entrance at the Charly Neumann Bridge.
  • For fans with visual impairments, a report for the blind via radio headphones is available throughout the VELTINS Arena. The device can be requested from your disabled fan representative at S04.
  • Deaf away fans will be accommodated in Schalke’s deaf block, where sign language translation by interpreters will be offered.
  • Further interesting information about the arena and disabled-accessible offers in the area can be found in the Bundesliga travel guide “Barrier-free to the stadium” from the DFL Foundation.

CONTACT POINT – Code word: “Where is Elli?”

The #standup contact point can be found in the rear area of the Schalke Museum, can be reached via stairwell 13 and is also accessible to visiting fans. The advice center serves as a contact point for people who have become victims of discriminatory, racist and sexist behavior or violence at Schalke; violations of the S04 mission statement and the stadium regulations of the VELTINS Arena can also be reported. The visitors will then be referred – if they wish – to the relevant specialist and advice centers. In addition, incidents and observations should be specifically collected and evaluated in the #standup contact point. We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that right-wing extremist ideas and corresponding symbolism have no place at Schalke. The Thor Steinar brand is mentioned here in excerpts; an overview of all symbols and further explanations can be found at schalke04.de.
