FAQs regarding the postponed friendly match against San Antonio

SV 98 answers the most important questions about the postponed friendly match of the Lilies against their cooperation partner San Antonio FC.

Why the postponement?

The merging of the international breaks in September and October creates a more suitable timeframe for a trip to the USA. During this period, recovery, travel planning, and training management can be coordinated much more effectively than in March. After carefully considering organisational, sporting, and financial aspects, SV 98 has therefore decided to postpone the sporting portion of the trip to September. The delegation trip in March, with its planned schedule, will take place as originally planned.

Why is the September date better suited?

The matchday before the international break will be played no later than September 20th, and the following match no earlier than October 9th. This ensures optimal recovery and travel preparation after the previous match, while simultaneously guaranteeing the best possible preparation for the subsequent matchday. Both of these aspects are significantly easier to achieve due to the longer break between matches compared to March.

How high are the costs for the club?

A postponement naturally incurs additional expenses. SV 98 has already held discussions with the partners involved and received positive indications of viable solutions. Thanks to the support of the partners and funding from the DFL (German Football League), the trip remains financially responsible. The goal remains to at least break even.

How is the club handling fans who have already booked a trip?

SV 98 is aware that a date change will cause inconvenience for the traveling fans. Therefore, it is all the more important for the club to proactively reach out to them and explore individual solutions to cover any additional costs incurred.
