Transfer News: Lilies Sign Weißhaupt
SV 98 has secured an offensive boost. Noah Weißhaupt will wear the Lilies' jersey in the future. The 24-year-old is transferring from SC Freiburg to Darmstadt.
Paul Fernie will take up the position of sports director at SV Darmstadt 98 in the future. The 36-year-old most recently worked as sporting director for the second division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden. SV 98 will announce the exact time when work will begin in the next few days, as well as a date for the official presentation at a press conference.
Rüdiger Fritsch: „When looking for a sports director, we developed a desired profile that matched Paul Fernie’s one hundred percent. We are therefore very happy that Paul will work for us in this position. We were looking for a team player who takes over the overall sporting area in a responsible position and brings and implements clear ideas and concepts, especially in the areas of squad planning, scouting and analysis. He also has a very good network and has already proven in the past that he can come up with unusual and creative solutions always find ways to work successfully even without an immense budget.”
The Englishman was already working as a scout for Doncaster at the age of 22, and in the following years he worked in this role for Crawley Town, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers. In October 2016, Fernie joined SV Wehen Wiesbaden and was appointed head of the scouting department. Between October 2019 and June 2021, he headed the scouting department at one of the two New York MLS teams before returning to Wiesbaden as sporting director.
