Figures & facts: The top facts about the Elversberg game

Long time no see! For the first time since 2013, SV Darmstadt 98 and SV Elversberg will meet again in a competitive game. After their first point, can the Lilies now also get their first win? Before the kick-off of the upcoming away game on Saturday (August 31st /1pm) in the URSAPHARM Arena at Kaiserlinde, we will provide you with the most important facts and figures about the game in our Top Facts.

Premiere in the 2. Bundesliga

It’s been a long time. But after eleven years, the paths of SV Darmstadt 98 and SV Elversberg cross again in a competitive game – albeit for the first time in the 2nd Bundesliga. The last time the two teams met under competitive conditions was in the 2013/14 third division season. While there was a 0-0 draw in the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor in the first half of the season, the Lilies have very good memories of the stadium at Kaiserlinde. The Darmstadt team won 3-0 in December 2013 thanks to goals from Sandro Sirigu, Hanno Behrens and an own goal.

Longing for your first victory

Hopefully the wait will soon be over… This applies to both Darmstadt and Elversberg’s perspective. Both teams have not yet won in the current second division season, so both teams are eager for their first win of the season and the three points that come with it. While the Lilies recently collected their first point against 1. FC Nürnberg (1:1), the SVE already has two of them. Elversberg drew against Magdeburg (0-0) and Cologne (2-2) and lost 2-3 at Karlsruher SC on the last match day. The Saarland team started without a win, but they already have one more point in their account than at the same time last season.

Made in Sweden

This applies one hundred percent to SV Darmstadt 98. Because the Lilies‘ two second division goals this season are both of Swedish origin. Oscar Vilhelmsson, born in Åsa, netted against Paderborn. Isac Lidberg, born in Stockholm, scored against Nürnberg last weekend. The latter fired five shots on goal – all of them in the opponent’s box. No other second division player scored so often in the opponent’s penalty area on the last day of the match.

Allowed a lot, let in little

SV Elversberg allowed the most shots on goal in the league on the first three matchdays – 55 in total. However, considering their defensive vulnerability, the Saarlanders only conceded five goals. This was mainly due to goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof: The Heidelberg native, who has been under contract with SVE since 2021, was able to parry a strong 76 percent of the shots that he has faced.

Ex-Lilies

Luca Schnellbacher is in third place in SV Elversberg’s all-time record goalscorer list. The attacker scored a total of 60 goals in his 146 competitive games for the Saarland team. The 30-year-old, who was born in Höchst in the Odenwald, has been wearing the SVE jersey since 2020. Schnellbacher enjoyed his football training with the Lilies, among others. He played for SV Darmstadt 98’s youth team until 2012.

Overall Record:
Games Wins Draws Defeats Goals
Home 7 3 2 2 10:6
Away 7 2 1 4 8:9
Total 14 5 3 6 18:15
