… the South Hesse team are for 1. FC Magdeburg. The FCM has never been able to win – let alone get a point – against SV Darmstadt 98. The Lilies‘ impressive record: six games, six wins. But the successes of the Darmstadt team were by no means clear. In four meetings, a narrow 1-0 in favour of SV 98 flashed on the scoreboard. The Lilies have particularly good memories of the last duel: On May 19, 2023, Darmstadt 98 won 1-0 in the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor and thus secured the fourth Bundesliga promotion in the club’s history. While both teams met four times in the 2nd league, there were also two duels in the DFB Cup.

A top team

… the 2nd Bundesliga is currently 1. FC Magdeburg. The football club from the east is still undefeated and can look forward to third place in the table. For the first time in the club’s history, FCM managed to remain unbeaten on the first six match days. The Magdeburgers have already collected twelve points – three wins, three draws. This is also a blue and white record: This means that the FCM has more points than ever before after six match days in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Strong away from home

… also applies to the FCM. The football club from Magdeburg celebrated all of its three wins this season on foreign soil. The Elbestadt team won all of the away games of the young season – in Braunschweig (3:1), Nürnberg (4:0) and in Köln (2:1), the blue and whites scored full points. So it’s time for the Lilies to end the FCM’s away series!

Meeting with the former club

… for Andreas Müller and Alexander Brunst. Both once played for 1. FC Magdeburg. Müller played on the Elbe from 2020 to 2023. The midfielder made special memories especially in the 2021/22 season when he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Blue-Whites. In total, Müller played 95 competitive games for FCM, in which he scored nine goals and provided another five assists. Brunst, on the other hand, played 37 games for Magdeburg. He was under contract in the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt from 2017 to 2020.

14 Goals

… the new signings of both teams have achieved so far this season. So the new ones are making an impact – both at SV Darmstadt 98 and at 1. FC Magdeburg. Five newcomers to the FCM have already made their way into the top scorers‘ list, scoring eight goals together. On the Lilien side, two new signings, Isac Lidberg and Sergio Lopez, have already registered league goals. While the Swedish attacker has four goals to his name, the Spanish winger has scored twice so far.
