Figures & facts: The top facts about the Paderborn game

The Lilies have a decent home record against SC Paderborn. The 98ers won three of the four home games against the side from East Westphalia. Can SV 98 continue this positive trend? Next Sunday (January 26th/1:30pm) there will be another meeting in the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor. The tenth place in the table welcomes the eighth in the table. We have put together the most important figures and facts for you.

Comeback Points

… don’t upset the Lilies. SV Darmstadt 98 is showing good morale under Florian Kohfeldt: the South Hessians have already been able to score nine points after falling behind. This was the case most recently in the 2-2 draw against Fortuna Düsseldorf on matchday 18, when the Lilies made up a two-goal deficit. But SC Paderborn can deal with deficits even better. The East Westphalians have already scored an impressive 15 points this season after initially being behind – the best in the league together with Karlsruher SC.

Goal guarantee?

Things are going really well for Killian Corredor at the moment! While the Frenchman didn’t score a goal in his first ten competitive games for SV 98, he’s really turned things up in the last few weeks. Eight scorer points in the last four games – including five goals – speak for his impressive form. His performance was particularly strong in the duel against Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he scored a brace for the second time this season. He achieved the first in the home game against Kaiserslautern. He now has a total of six goals this season – all scored in the last eight games.

Meagre yield

After the 15th matchday, SC Paderborn greeted us from the top of the table. But the past few weeks haven’t exactly gone according to plan. The East Westphalians are currently in eighth place in the table. In the last four games, the SCP achieved a rather meagre return of just one point. As quickly as things can go down a few places in this crazy 2nd Bundesliga, things can also go up again just as quickly: Paderborn is only three points behind a direct promotion place…

Super Sub Michel

22 times. That’s how often SC Paderborn shot at the opponent’s goal in the last home game against Hertha BSC – more often than in any of their other games this season. Head coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team also achieved their highest x-goals value of the current season. But despite the many chances to score, the end result was a bitter and narrow 2-1 defeat. One bright spot was the return of Sven Michel, who was back on the pitch for the first time since November 22nd. The offensive player promptly contributed a goal and thus confirmed his substitute qualities: Michel scored all three of his goals so far this season after being substituted on.

Goodbye

The game between SV Darmstadt 98 and SC Paderborn brings several returnees to the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor on Sunday. Marvin Mehlem, who only moved to Hull City last summer, is returning to his old place of work as a loan player from SC Paderborn. The midfielder spent a total of seven years at the Bölle – 191 games including 21 goals and 31 assists are on his Lily CV. Another ex-Lilie is Felix Platte. The striker scored eleven goals in 88 competitive games for Darmstadt.

Meeting the former club

There are also several reunions on the Lilies side. Three Lilien professionals were once under contract with SC Paderborn. Kai Klefisch may have the most recent memories. He only moved from SCP to SVD last summer. In total, the midfielder played 48 competitive games for East Westphalia in two years. Tobias Kempe, meanwhile, played 15 games for Paderborn when he played for SCP from July 2012 to January 2013. Luca Marseiler, on the other hand, was once under contract with SC Paderborn, but never played a competitive game for the professionals.

Danger of a yellow card suspension

Kai Klefisch and Fabian Nürnberger have to be careful on the Lilies side. Both go into the game with four yellow cards each. A further caution would mean a ban in the following game.

Overall Record:
Games Wins Draws Defeats Goals
Home 4 3 0 1 6:5
Away 6 4 0 2 11:13
Overall 10 7 0 3 17:18

Three unfortunate minutes just before halftime, during which Patric Pfeiffer was sent off and Vincent Vermeij scored twice, paved the way for Dresden's victory. After the match, the focus was primarily on the differing assessments of two very similar incidents by the refereeing team – incidents which both coaches subsequently evaluated identically.
