“Eddersheim is a very strong team, they will definitely end up in the top third of the league table,” summarised head coach Daniel Petrowsky after a game that his team did not have to lose.
The start of the encounter in particular was extremely promising: In the 13th minute, Viktor Grbic coolly finished after a diagonal ball and put the Lilies in the lead. But less than ten minutes later the hosts equalised. „We had problems in the first half. The opponent blocked us in front, so we were often forced to play long balls. We needed time to accept this game,“ said Petrowsky in retrospect.
The only goal of the second half belonged to Eddersheim. In the 72nd minute, captain Jonas Kummer scored the winning goal for FCE. Despite intensive efforts in the final phase, SV 98 were no longer able to level. Petrowsky: “Unfortunately we suffered our first defeat of the season. But we will learn from it and focus on the next game. Basically you can’t blame the boys, they gave it their all again.“
Now we turn our attention to the next home game. On Sunday (August 25th) the young people of Darmstadt will welcome the promoted team FSV Wolfhagen at the sports field in Alsbach. Kick-off is at 3pm.
