Lilies win in Walldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 won their fourth pre-season friendly. The Lilies defeated regional league side FC-Astoria Walldorf 4-1 (0-0) after 120 minutes.
Despite the international break, there is anything but radio silence at SV Darmstadt 98. The professionals proved themselves in the test match against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz. In addition, the other teams and departments of the Darmstadt 98 sports club provide a wide range of sports on the weekend: We give you an overview of what's going on despite the international break. Now everything in our weekly section can be found here in 'Lilies Across the Board'.
“The fact that the team itself wasn’t that happy overall shows its own standards. And that’s a good thing,” explained Florian Kohfeldt after the 1-0 win in the mini-friendly match against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz on Tuesday evening (October 8th). For the head coach of SV Darmstadt 98 himself, the result was not decisive. Rather, it was important to him to give each player 30 minutes of playing time in order to see the entire team under competitive conditions against a motivated regional league team. Meanwhile, Oscar Vilhelmsson did not get any playing time in the test against Fulda. However, the Swedish attacker trained with the team in the morning and was rested in the evening after his long injury break. According to Kohfeldt, he is again considered a candidate for the squad for the Köln game in the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor on Friday evening (18.10/18.30pm).
The Lilien professionals are enjoying a game-free weekend due to the international break. But SV Darmstadt 98 is more than just professional football. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy sports at the 1898 sports club on the weekend. We provide you with an overview:

The traditional Lilies team celebrated a 4-1 win against the legends of FC Barcelona! What once started as a joke (the full report is here) became reality when the Darmstadt team played in the heart of Catalonia last Friday (October 4th) and turned the game around after falling behind at halftime. The Lilies fought for this special success with great team spirit, tactical changes and emotional moments on the pitch. Accompanied by fans and friends as well as previous instructions from former national coach and current Barca head coach Hansi Flick, the old Lilies enjoyed their trip to Barcelona. We review the journey of our traditional team with you on our YouTube channel:
The old football adage applies to the SV Darmstadt 98 fan team: After the game is before the game! With a rousing 6:4 win, the “zwote Zwote” of the Lilies were able to score three points away at SV Croatia Griesheim last Sunday (October 6th). Will the next win come this weekend? RSV Germania Pfungstadt is already waiting for the Lilies next Sunday (October 13th/3pm). Two members of our Lilien family were able to celebrate their birthdays this week: Othmane El Idrissi came of age on Monday (October 7th). The young offensive player made his professional debut on the first matchday against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Congratulations on your 18th birthday, Otto!
Our former right-back Sandro Sirigu was also able to enjoy his special day on the same day. Sirigu played an impressive 135 professional games with the Lily on his chest from 2013 to 2019. With SV 98, the Ulm native rose from the 3rd division to the Bundesliga. Later after his active career, Sirigu was also responsible for the Bölle Gang at SV Darmstadt 98. We wish you a happy 36th birthday, dear Sandro!
