Florian Kohfeldt:

„A huge compliment to my team for this performance after a strenuous week. We were clearly the better team until the 70th minute, towards the end the game got wilder and both teams had their big chances again. Overall, it’s against HSV with its individual quality It’s really good if we leave here and aren’t completely satisfied with a 2-2 result. We still deserved the win.“

On the 2-1 goal:
„It’s totally fine that HSV takes the free kick quickly and scores a great goal. You have to say that. But purely objectively described, there was a situation a few seconds beforehand in which the opponent made eye contact with Fraser Hornby during a running duel and then goes with his elbow in the direction of his face. A clear foul. Philipp Förster was also warned beforehand because he took a free kick that should have been allowed according to the rules Explaining something to our player during HSV’s free kick and having the free kick taken at the same time is questionable. That’s why we’re not technically satisfied with the overall situation.“

Merlin Polzin:

“I saw a very intense game. At the beginning we had to prove ourselves against a very good Darmstadt team. We had to adapt our pressing and were then able to switch quickly, as we did at 1-0. Little by little we were able to improve our performance during the game and repeatedly create a goal threat. I really liked how much courage we had right now. Even after the 2-2 draw, we reacted well and stuck together as a team. I’m less happy with the fact that we missed out on scoring the winning goal. Ultimately it’s a performance-based draw.”

Clemens Riedel:

„An English week is of course always tiring. But we are really fit at the moment. That’s why our team didn’t feel tired today. We quickly shook off the cup game. And we played a good game today. We wanted to play dominantly and we did well Overall, both teams had their offensive qualities, so it was an open exchange of blows that both teams wanted to win. We were able to turn the game around completely, especially towards the end On the other hand, you can also be happy that HSV doesn’t score another goal.“

Marcel Schuhen:

„The two goals and every dangerous action by Hamburg were always examples of their individual quality. It wasn’t that these scenes were played up. Rather, we were the team that played out our situations and moments. I’ve rarely seen HSV being so hesitant at home, which shows the respect we’ve earned as a team. I’m happy with our game today, but I’m not entirely happy with the result. Overall, I think today’s game is difficult to compare with our away games at HSV to compare with the past as we often defended with all our might and took our chances on counterattacks, but today it was completely different. Today we had the ball and controlled many phases of the game. And so at least one point was well deserved.“

On the 2-1 goal:
„Our boys say that the referee raises his whistle in the scene and gives the signal that he has to whistle for the free kick. I couldn’t see it from my position and talked to the referee after the game. He told me: that he didn’t make that sign. Either way, we can’t sleep in this scene.
