With the love for German football to southern Hesse. Lidberg, who has been passionate about German football since his childhood, has now taken the step to Germany. Not an unknown country. for him. Even as a child, he accompanied his father Martin Lidberg – a former professional wrestler – to competitions across Europe and in the Federal Republic. He often spent his free time in football stadiums. “We often went to football games. And since then my heart has beaten for German football. The Bundesliga used to always be my favorite league. I’m really happy to finally be on German turf myself,” explained Lidberg in his inaugural interview at the Böllenfalltor.

“He is an ambitious guy who works hard. He is good at scoring goals when he has the chance. He still has a great future ahead of him,” his coach at Hammarby IF, Kennedy Bakircioglü, once said about the young striker. At Hammerby, a club from his hometown of Stockholm, he learned to play football and later became the youngest professional debutant in the club’s history at the age of 16. Lidberg also played for several Swedish youth national teams.

The Swedish attacker’s first move abroad took him to Norway in the 2017/18 season, where he played for IK Start as well as FK Jerv and Hamarkameratene until 2019. He then moved back to his home country and played for IF Brommapojkarna and Gefle IF. Finally, in 2021 he moved on to a new country – away from Scandinavia. Lidberg initially spent two seasons with the Dutch first division club Go Ahead Eagles, where he played 72 games, scored 14 goals and prepared seven goals. Then he moved within the Netherlands to FC Utrecht in the summer of 2023. He was able to collect five goals and three assists there last season.

Now a new chapter begins for the 25-year-old. Namely at SV Darmstadt 98 in the 2nd Bundesliga – and already with a success! In his first competitive game in the DFB Cup, he immediately showed what he was made of. Just a minute after coming on as a substitute, he prepared the goal for his Swedish strike partner Oscar Vilhelmsson to make it 3-1.

Welcome and here’s to many more assists and goals at the Bölle, Isac!
