Lidberg signs for the Lilies

SV Darmstadt 98 can announce their tenth new signing this summer: Isac Lidberg is moving from FC Utrecht to southern Hesse. The 25-year-old striker signed a contract with the Lilies after passing his medical check.

Paul Fernie: „In Isac we are getting a promising central attacker who will help us with his profile and qualities. With his great will and ability to assert himself in the air and on the ground, he not only fits in with our club, but overall in the physical 2nd league. We are looking forward to an all-rounder who can handle balls well and exudes a lot of danger with his runs behind the defence. This overall package made us definitely want to sign him.

Torsten Lieberknecht: „Isac brings penetration and assertiveness, and we will also be able to benefit from his robustness and dynamism. He is at a good footballing age, but can still take further steps in his development. I am glad that the transfer worked out and we can welcome another exciting player to our squad.“

Isac Lidberg: „I’m very happy about the move and that I can now play for Darmstadt 98. I see myself as a team player who will work hard for the team and give everything for their mutual success. My goal is to play my part to be able to contribute to ensuring that we have a good season.“

Lidberg was trained at the traditional Swedish club Hammarby IF, after which he played for various clubs in Sweden and Norway. In 2021 he moved to the Dutch Eredivisie to the Go Ahead Eagles, where he scored 14 goals and seven assists in a total of 72 competitive games. In the summer of 2023, FC Utrecht secured Lidberg’s services. Last season, the Swede netted four times and assisted on three goals in 20 games in the top division. Lidberg also scored in the Dutch Cup.

At SV 98 he will wear the number 7 on his shirt.

Welcome to Darmstadt, Isac!
