Lilien fans visit Castellar Oliveral C.F.
As part of the Lilies' training camp in El Saler, 30 Lilies fans and SV 98 club officials visited the sports club „Castellar Oliveral C.F. on Saturday evening (January 11th). Pobles del Sud“, whose sports grounds were completely covered by a layer of mud as a result of the severe storms at the end of October. Around SV 98's home game against Preußen Münster in November, 4,800 euros were raised thanks to cup donations, which were then made available to the club for renovation work.
A home-made paella awaited the Lilies fans on site, which was consumed in close proximity to the pitch. Meanwhile, the second team from Castellar Oliveral C.F. played on the pitch in Pobles del Sud in a test match. An evening arrangement that seemed impossible in this way at the end of October. At that time, a thick layer of mud covered almost the entire club premises; access gates, changing rooms and training materials had largely become unusable. Thanks to the donations from the Münster game, the clean-up and renovation work could be started, especially since the 4,800 euros represent greater financial support than the club received from the Spanish state.
In the past few weeks, the club has also become a social hub for the entire town. Bicycles were collected, repaired and given to people who lost their cars in the flood. On the highest Christmas holiday in Spain, the Epiphany, all children in the town were able to pick up a small present at the clubhouse. „We are convinced that we are helping exactly the right people. Because they don’t just look out for themselves, but have become the contact point for Castellar-Oliveral,“ explained Alexander Lehné, who, as fan representative, coordinated the Lilies‘ fan trip to Spain and the visit to the club. As a further gift, the Lilien entourage, which also included Vice President Markus Pfitzner, Executive Committee member Wolfgang Arnold and Tom Eilers (Managing Director of Licensed Players), had 20 training balls in tow. There are still a lot of things missing at the Spanish club, but at least a somewhat regulated game and training operation is now possible again.
