Lilien professionals distribute food to the homeless
With a “bon appetit” and a smile on your lips. The Lilien professionals Kai Klefisch, Matej Maglica, Sergio Lopez and Nico Baier helped hand out warm meals to the homeless and needy at Europaplatz in Darmstadt last Sunday (November 10th). Together they support the private initiative “Help the Homeless Darmstadt”, which distributes warm food and much more to the homeless and those in need every Sunday at the western exit of Darmstadt Central Station - and has been doing so in a voluntary capacity for over ten years.
Goulash soup and pea stew. Plus a small dessert. That was on the small but very tasty menu on Sunday. This time, the food was not handed over by the hard-working helpers from the “Help the Homeless Darmstadt” initiative, but by the four Lily professionals. “We were very happy to get involved. We are very pleased that with our help and a warm meal we were able to put a smile on the faces of the people here,” said Kai Klefisch on behalf of them. The SVD midfielder further explained to sv98.de: “As football professionals in particular, we live a very privileged life. It is therefore important to get to know these realities too. Our huge respect goes to all the helpers who organise this on a voluntary basis every Sunday.”
SV 98 hands over donations
In addition to the active support with the food distribution, SV Darmstadt 98 was also able to hand over the donations in kind on Sunday, which were at the Outdoor Sleepover at the start of November in the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor were collected. Both sleeping bags and sleeping mats were handed over to Petra Bier. She is part of the “Helping the Homeless Darmstadt” initiative and is now distributing the donations in kind to those in need.

The private initiative has set itself the goal of “helping people in need regardless of their background, gender or nationality.” Every Sunday lunchtime, “Helping Homeless Darmstadt” meets at Europaplatz in Darmstadt to serve hot food and drinks to distribute food, clothing, hygiene products and pet food to the homeless and those in need.
