Lilien sign Karol Niemczycki
Reinforcement in the goalkeeper position: Karol Niemczycki is moving from Fortuna Düsseldorf to SV Darmstadt 98. It was agreed not to disclose the details of the move.
Paul Fernie: „It is important to us to create strong competition in the goalkeeper position in order to push our keepers to their limits. We are very pleased that Karol has decided to move to Darmstadt. He brings everything with him that goalkeepers at this level are need and at the same time still have a lot of development potential.“
Dimo Wache: „Karol is a goalkeeper who is very willing to learn and who at the same time has already gained a lot of experience at a certain level. It was immediately apparent in the conversations that he is very keen on the task here and the hard work that goes with it. He has a healthy self-confidence and pursues his ambitions, but is also a team player who will integrate very well into our goalkeeping team.“
Karol Niemczycki: „I had very good discussions with those responsible and immediately had a good feeling when the Lilies expressed their interest. The impressions on site were also excellent. So the decision to go to Darmstadt was easy for me. I was able to play in the league and I got to know special clubs and stadiums last year and now I want to take the next step as a player.“
Niemczycki started his football career in his hometown of Krakow, where he played for Garbarnia Krakow and KS Cracovia. In 2017 he moved to the Netherlands and NAC Breda’s U19 team. For the 2019/20 season, Niemczycki returned to his home country, where he initially made 29 appearances in the Polish 2nd League for Puszcza Niepolomice, before playing a total of 78 competitive games (72 appearances in the Ekstraklasa) for KS Cracovia between August 2020 and July 2023.
