Paul Fernie: “Pascal Pellowski has overseen numerous changes in his role in recent years in order to further develop the youth team at SV 98. What should be particularly mentioned here is the implementation of the revision of the NLZ structures decided in 2021, including the transition to the professional sector. We would like to thank Pascal for his work and at the same time are pleased that he will remain with our club until further notice.”
Pascal Pellowski: “I am very grateful to the club for giving me the chance to start my career in my home country after my active football days. We can all be very proud of what we have achieved in the transition area over the past three years. The youth performance center and the professional area, including the coaching team, work closely and trustingly together. Together we have created structures that enable players to make the leap into the professional field more easily.”
Pellowski, who played for SV 98 during his playing days, returned to the Lilies in 2019. The native of Darmstadt initially acted as an assistant coach for the U19, and since 2021 he has held the newly created position of transition coordinator, in which he is responsible for the integration of the NLZ players into the professional area. Important key points of the concept decided on in 2021 and overseen by him are the early integration of young players into the training squad of the professional team, which permanently provides for two permanent places in training operations with players from the NLZ’s performance range, as well as a long-term step-by-step model for the development steps of the young players individually to accompany and support. In addition, existing school collaborations were intensified. The majority of players from the performance and development areas now attend SV 98’s partner schools in Darmstadt.
Since this summer, SV 98 has also been competing in the Hessenliga with a U21 team. The team’s goal is to give youth players even earlier playing time in the men’s division and thus make the transition to the professionals easier. The team consists largely of the most talented players from the U17 and U19 levels as well as transition players who were trained in the Lilies‘ youth performance center.
