SV 98 successfully played its third test game: The Lilies won 8:1 (5:0) against SV 1919 Münster. Hornby (2x), Mehlem (2x), Vilhelmsson, Marseiler and Stojilkovic scored for Darmstadt.
The home team had their first good opportunity shortly after kick-off, but Schuhen was equal to it. The Lilies then took command and established themselves in the opponent’s half. The ball went into the net for the first time in the 15th minute: Mehlem finished in a central position on the edge of the penalty area, and the captain sank the ball flat into the corner. Ten minutes later Mehlem scored again after Will had won the ball and rounded several opponents. In front of the goal, he passed it to his teammate, who only had to hit the empty goal. Shortly afterwards, Will recorded the next assist: as he served Vilhelmsson, who beat the opposing keeper (29th).
Shortly before half-time Hornby scored a brace. First, the striker took a free kick from 18 meters and whipped it into the net, and in added time he scored after Vilhelmsson’s shot was blocked. We went into halftime 5-0.
After the restart there was a lot of substitution, but this didn’t stop the flow of goals. Marseiler made it 6-0 (49th). The next goal took a while to arrive, but came again after a free kick: Stojilkovic sank the ball from almost 20 meters (68th). Shortly before the end, Münster also scored, in the 90th minute El Idrissi made the final score 8-1.

The Bundesliga finalised the match schedules for matchdays three through six on Wednesday (July 15th): Darmstadt's home game against Hannover 96 on matchday three will take place on Sunday. This will be followed by their away game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday at 1pm. The home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Friday evening and the away game in Wolfsburg, also on Friday evening, have also been confirmed.
The Lilies can welcome another new arrival at the Böllenfalltor: Florian Kleinhansl will now wear the SV 98 jersey. The 25-year-old joins on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern on June 30th.
