Lilies Progress in the Pokal
SV 98 got their ticket for the next round in the DFB Cup: with a 3-1 (2-0) win against the regional league team FC Teutonia 05. The Lilien goals in the Millerntor Stadium were scored by Klefisch (19th), Nürnberger (28th, penalty) and Vilhelmsson (62nd).
As expected, the South Hesse team took control of the game in the duel with the regional league team from Ottensen. It took ten minutes for the first good offensive action, but Oscar Vilhelmsson’s attempt was blocked for a corner. Three minutes later Luca Marseiler similarly saw his shot deflect behind for a corner. In the following minutes, the 98ers repeatedly won shots and corners, initially without success.
However, the Lilies took the lead on 19 minutes: Kai Klefisch opened his account for the club with an absolute rocket from distance that flex into the top corner via the underside of the bar. Seven minutes later, Vilhelmsson almost increased the score, but his shot from the turn went just wide of the post. Shortly afterwards it was 2-0: Luca Marseiler was knocked off his feet in the penalty area and Fabian Nürnberger sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot.
Ten minutes before half-time the hosts also got their first goal, Karol Niemczycki first fended off a shot from Marvin Ajani and then Andreas Müller cleared the ball under pressure as it bounced around the area.
Shortly before the half-time whistle, the SVD had another double chance: First a cross from Marseiler was just blocked as he looked for Fynn Lakenmacher in the area. The striker then couldn’t keep his volley down after a cross from Matthias Bader had picked him out at the back post.
The hosts came out in the second half looking transformed and seized the initiative of the game. After a slack pass in the Lilien midfield, Nick Gutmann took the shot that Niemczycki pushed away and Christian Stark scored to make it 1-2 four minutes into the half.
On the hour mark it was once again Lakenmacher who could have scored the next Lilien goal, but he glanced his header wide. The two-goal cushion was restored soon after, the ball came to Oscar Vilhelmsson via the two new signings Kilian Corredor and Isac Lidberg, who finished.
In the final minutes, the hosts tried everything again to score another goal and Niemczycki was able to excel again when he strongly parried a free kick from Abd El Aal Ali in the 86th minute.
