Lilies up close: All opponents at a glance

SV Darmstadt 98 is back in preparation and is currently working hard on the physical side at the training camp in Lautenbach. After the strenuous time in the Black Forest, the first test matches follow, where the Lilies meet some teams from the region. We will introduce you to the first three test match opponents in more detail.

SpVgg Hainstadt

The Lilies start the test match phase against SpVgg Hainstadt (presented by CRAFT). Freshly back from the training camp, the 98s will head towards the Hessian-Bavarian border; the municipality of Hainstadt belongs to Hainburg and is located directly on the Main. The game will be played on Saturday (June 29th) from 1 p.m. at the Katzenfeld sports facility.

The club was founded in 1879 and is celebrating its 145th anniversary this year. According to its own information, Hainstadt has over 1,000 club members and the SpVgg has four active departments.

Last season, Hainstadt missed promotion to the district league only in relegation, so SpVgg faces another year in the district league A Offenbach. The coach is Michael Mohr, who has regional league experience as a player and already has the A license as a trainer.

SV Beerfelden

The team’s second friendly opponent is SV Beerfelden. On Wednesday (July 3rd) the Lilies will be going to the Odenwald, where the SVD is looking forward to its second test match in this community of 3,500 inhabitants, which will be presented by ENTEGA.

“Not quite as spectacular as with the DFB, but here too there will gradually be a leak as to who will strengthen the SVB in the game against SV Darmstadt 1898 e.V.,” announced the SVB on its Facebook page at the beginning of June. From strikers with over 50 goals in the ninth division to tough defense specialists, everything is there.

Last season wasn’t particularly successful for the Odenwälders; they only managed to score 17 points in the Odenwald district league A, so they’ll be in the B league next season.

But that’s no reason for a bad mood: Not only the friendly match against Darmstadt 98 will put the Beerfelders in a good mood, their own birthday will also be celebrated big in the Odenwald. The sports club is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The Lilies warmly congratulate you and look forward to being part of the anniversary year.

SV Munster

The tour through the region ends at the sports club in Münster. SV plays in the group league and finished eleventh in the table last season. Between 2019 and 2023, association league football could even be admired in Münster.

Incidentally, it is not the first time that the Lilies have met the sports club based there at the sports grounds in Münster; the 98ers were guests for a test match in June 2019, as part of the club’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Back then, the 98ers met coach Naser Selmanaj, the 49-year-old has been in office since 2017 and is entering his eighth season at Mäusberg. At the SVM’s home venue, Selmanaj can not only train on well-maintained natural grass, Münster also has an artificial turf pitch and a small pitch. The encounter is presented by Krombacher.

You can get tickets for all three test games in our fan shop at the Bölle, and the host clubs also sell tickets for the respective test game. The SVD is looking forward to full sports fields in South Hesse!
