Lilies victory at the season opening festival
SV 98 rounded off the season opening party in the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor with a convincing 5:1 (3:0) victory. Marseiler (4th), Maglica (21st) and Lakenmacher (29th) scored in the first half for the determined and committed home team. In the second half, Stojilkovic (65th, 75th) got on the scoresheet with two goals.
Torsten Lieberknecht: „We were really positively surprised at how many fans were there today. We also wanted to offer people a happy day in terms of football. There were a few good things that will help us for the training camp.“
The Lilies started started on fire and took the lead on 4 minutes; Bader was released on the right wing, his low cross found Marseiler in the middle, who converted from close range. After 21 minutes, the Lilies doubled their lead – this time with a header: Maglica headed a Will corner into the net to make it 2-0. A chipped ball from Will was chested off by Bader to Lakenmacher who took the lay-off directly and scored from around ten meters just before the half hour mark. A refreshing and active 45 minutes for SV 98 resulted in a 3-0 half-time lead.
The visitors got a goal back 5 minutes into the half when Maglica turned the ball into his own net. In the 65th minute of the game, the three goal lead was restored: Stojilkovic shot from the left area of the penalty area and beat the opposing keeper. Ten minutes later, Stojilkovic was the goalscorer again: Torsiello came through strongly on the right wing and found the Swiss in the middle, who scored from close range to make it 5-1.
