Lilies win mini-test against Fulda
Success in the mini test. The Lilies won the test match against regional league team SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz 1-0 (1-0). Killian Corredor scored the decisive goal of the game, which was played over 2 30 minute halves.
Both teams tried to keep the pace up from the first minute, with the Darmstadt team quickly becoming the more dominant team with a lot of possession. Nevertheless, it was the guests from Fulda who got their first shot on goal of the game through Atilgan (5th). A little later Hornby (10th) was served with a good pass, but his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Horz. SV 98 increasingly converted its superiority into dangerous goal actions. After a Kempe free kick, Gjasula volleyed over the bar after a poor clearance from the guests.
The Lilies also managed to get through again and again, especially via the left wing via Bueno and Corredor. When SV 98 took the lead, Maglica played an outstanding long ball to the top. Horz misjudged the flight of the ball allowing Corredor to convert into an empty net to make it 1-0. Towards the end of the first half, Hornby as well as Maglica and Riedel, whose shot hit the crossbar, had further opportunities but missed them.
At the beginning of the second half, head coach Florian Kohfeldt made a complete change. El Idrissi (34′) had the first opportunity after the restart, but his shot whizzed past the far post. From then on, the Lilies remained the team that dominated the game against the regional league team, remained focused defensively and continued to set the tone going forward. Marseiler and El Idrissi had the best chances when they both failed at the goal post. In the final phase, the Darmstadt team continued to press on goal. Marseiler crossed the ball to Lidberg’s head (55′), but he headed wide. Shortly before the end of the game, Fulda managed to get into the Lilies‘ penalty area one last time and shot the ball powerfully towards Niemczycki’s goal, who was able to parry the ball – the last scene of the mini-friendly game.
