No upset today at the Bölle
No fall of the favorites at Bölle: SV Darmstadt 98 lost 2:5 (1:2) against FC Bayern Munich. Tim Skarke had temporarily fired the Lilies into the lead at the Böllenfalltor Merck Stadium. However, the record champions turned the game around in the first half.
As expected, the record champions from Munich had more of the game in the early stages of the game. However, the Darmstadt team held up well and only allowed a few dangerous shots: Marcel Schuhen only had to intervene after seven minutes and fended off Kimmich’s shot from close range. After just over a quarter of an hour, the biggest chance of the game fell to the Lilies with Mathias Honsak, who shot from the edge of the penalty area after a lay-off by Julian Justvan, but Manuel Neuer produced a reflex save.
After this opportunity for the home team, the Munich team also had better chances, but first Christoph Klarer prevented Kane from finishing on 17 minutes, then Goretzka missed fired wide with 20 minutes on the clock.
The opening goal of the game came in the 28th minute of the game. Honsak came through strongly, moved into the penalty area and passed the ball to Tim Skarke who kept his calm and put the home team in the lead with a well-considered shot into the far corner. Eight minutes later, however, the guests, who dominated the game, equalised through Musiala.
Bayern went ahead in the first minute of added time as Kane headed home. There was still time for Oscar Vilhelmsson to smash the ball against the crossbar after fine preparatory work by Fabian Holland. After a good performance, we went into the break with a narrow deficit.
In the first few minutes after the break there was almost no flow of the game as the game had to be interrupted repeatedly due to injuries. There were almost no chances at all for long periods. Musiala added his second goal of the game and a third for the guests on 64 minutes.
The 98ers still stayed well in the game and continued to create good scenes. In the 70th minute, Vilhelmsson carried the ball strongly and his shot just missed the far post. The miss was punished with 16 minutes remaining when Gnabry finished across goal.
Stoppage time provided more entertainment as it had done in the first half, firstly Tel made it five for the visitors in the 2nd minute of added time. However, the Lilies had the last say in the game when Vilhelmsson flicked the ball home after good play from Polter and Seydel.
