Serhat-Semih Güler becomes a Lily
SV 98 has signed Serhat-Semih Güler. The 27-year-old striker, who scored goals for third-division club Viktoria Köln last season, signed with the Lilies after passing his medical.
Paul Fernie: „Serhat-Semih Güler’s profile expands our options and will add even more variety to our game. He has a keen nose in the penalty area and brings pace, depth, intensity, and substitute qualities to the pitch. He also sacrifices himself as an intense presser when playing off the ball, putting pressure on opposing defenses in their build-up play. We firmly believe that his style of play is a perfect fit for Darmstadt and gives us flexibility in attack.“
Serhat-Semih Güler: „I’m eager to prove myself in the second division. Darmstadt is a great club with an exciting development over the past decade. From afar, I’ve seen the club as a very friendly place and a place where players can develop. Now I want to repay the trust of the management and represent the Lilies with dignity.“
Güler trained in the youth teams of Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Düsseldorf, among others. After spells at SpVgg Burgbrohl, Fortuna Köln, ZFC Meuselwitz, Bonner SC, and Wuppertaler SV, he joined FC Hansa Rostock for the 2023/24 season. Güler appeared in ten second-division matches for FCH in the first half of the season. In January 2024, he transferred to TSV 1860 Munich. He spent last season with Viktoria Köln, where he scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 36 third-division matches. The striker also demonstrated his talent in the Middle Rhine Cup, scoring six points in four matches.
Güler will wear the number 22 in Darmstadt.
