In the morning, the student groups will take part in numerous closed workshops on European topics. The workshops will focus on the following topics, among others: participation and European elections, sustainability, gender equality in football, human rights and wishes for Europe.
In the afternoon (from 2pm) the festival area will be open free of charge to all young people from Darmstadt and the surrounding area. The welcoming speech will be given by Mayor Barbara Akdeniz and Bernard Gutowski, Managing Director of the Football and Culture EURO 2024 gGmbH Foundation. On the stadium grounds there will be interactive information stands from civil society about Europe as well as a human table football, a creative workshop, stadium tours, an SVD raffle and an exhibition on anti-discrimination. The open program is rounded off with live music as part of the “European Song Contest” by young bands from Darmstadt.
In the evening, the program concludes with a panel discussion on the topic “Cosmopolitan Darmstadt?”. From various perspectives from politics, sport, education and civil society, it is discussed how social division influences social cohesion in Darmstadt and what measures can be taken to promote integration and inclusion. Multipliers from the above-mentioned specialist areas are invited.
The festival is supported by the Football & Culture EURO 2024 Foundation gGmbH and the Franco-German Youth Office (DFJW).
