Statement on the termination of the DFL’s partner process

We welcome the DFL’s decision as a reaction to current developments. Although SV 98, like virtually all other professional clubs, sees the need for investments in media marketing, it should be noted that nationwide it has not been possible to convey these positive arguments of the planned strategic partnership to all football target groups – especially the fan curves.

Rather, in recent weeks and months, an atmosphere has developed at numerous football locations that is extremely negative and could permanently damage football in this country in its capacity as a national and cultural asset. This is why we had already campaigned last weekend to ensure that the decision from December could no longer be maintained in this form.

It is clear to us that German football must continue to work on maintaining and strengthening the 50+1 principle in the future. A maxim that SV 98 will continue to stand for in accordance with its mission statement. The basis for us is that central media marketing can be further stabilised and expanded in the short and medium term. This is a basis for a stable financial foundation for many clubs and also for SV 98.

Lilies support the „HEART SAFE“ initiative

At their home game on Saturday (April 11th, 8:30pm) at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor, SV Darmstadt 98 will send an important message. Together with the Björn Steiger Foundation and the German Heart Foundation, the club will promote the HERZSICHER (Heart Safe) initiative. The initiative aims to empower as many people as possible to perform CPR in the event of cardiac arrest through free 60-minute resuscitation courses. The German Football Association (DFB) is a cooperation partner.
