Herbst is ready

SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team started the match with great concentration and impressed from the first minute with passionate and cohesive defensive work. Head coach Daniel Petrowsky’s team also repeatedly made their mark on the attack, which paid off in the 34th minute. After a strong ball recovery by Milian Herbst, he played the ball precisely into the back of the net, where Othmane El Idrissi confidently slotted it home for a deserved 1-0 lead at halftime.

The second half, however, began anything but optimally for the South Hesse side. In the 53rd minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Friedberg and showed defender Bastian Görtler a second yellow card. However, goalkeeper Benedikt Börner preserved the lead for his team with a strong save.

Discipline despite being outnumbered

Despite being outnumbered, the Lilies continued to show fighting spirit and tactical discipline. In the 72nd minute, the team was rewarded once again. Max Pfister scored after a delicate pass from Markus Ballmert to make it 2-0. After Friedberg also received a second yellow card, the U21 team held on to their well-deserved away win.

After the successful away victory, the SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team now faces its first home game of the new season. On Saturday (August 9th, 3pm), coach Petrowsky’s team will give it their all against CSC 03 Kassel to secure another victory.

The fact that—and especially the way we did—we won the game today is really good. I think the game was a very strong start, and we can build on that.

Daniel Petrowsky, head coach of the U21 team, told sv98.de

Line-Up: Börner – Kunstmann, Pfister, Görtler, Alagi – Ballmert, Jaadar – Herbst (Karakaya, 56′), Rebner (Klappich, 76′) – El Idrissi (Mignano, 82′), Kadrijaj (Steineck, 90′).
