Summer break for the NLZ | 3-year promotion anniversary for the second team

At this stage of the year, the focus is increasingly on the new season, but things were still hot in the Lilies' youth performance center until a few days ago. For the SVD fan team, the absolute highlight game is in its third year and Friday (June 14th) is World Blood Donor Day. You can find out all this in our weekly section “Lilies across the Board”.

+++ Summer break also for the NLZ +++

The summer break is coming to an end for the professionals and the players are expected back at the Bölle next week. For some of the boys from the youth training center, however, the break is just starting now. Last Sunday (June 9th) the SVD U19 played away in the relegation second leg against Schott Mainz, the Rheinhessen team won 2-0. Just one day before, the U16s played in the association league against FSV Frankfurt, the U17s have already been off since June 4th. Due to a new DFB system in the youth sector, the U17 and U19 of the Lilies will play in the DFB youth league in the coming season; the U16 will no longer exist in the new season.

+++ Anniversary of the promotion of the Second +++

Over 3,000 spectators at a relegation game between the district league C and D! To this day this number sounds surreal, but on June 14, 2021 that was exactly the case. The second team played in the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor against SV Weiterstadt II, with a win the fan team’s first promotion was achieved. But things started off with a dampener for the SVD, after just two minutes the Weiterstadt team made it 0-1. After falling behind again in the second half, the 98ers scored a double blow to take a 3-2 lead, and the fans on the back straight couldn’t stop. However, anyone who thought promotion was already sealed after the 4-2 win was disappointed. The guests reduced the score to 4:3, but were then unable to equalise. “It was definitely an evening that each of us will remember forever,” said Zwote coach Andreas Degenhardt in an internal club interview. Since then, the fan team has achieved third place twice in the district league C, and they will also play here in the coming season.

+++ Friday is World Blood Donor Day +++

Friday (June 14th) marks the 20th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day. SV Darmstadt 98 also wants to raise awareness of this day and blood donation in general and hopes that many Lilien fans take up the offer. The day is intended, among other things, to remind people that people with blood loss need and depend on blood donations; statistically, in Germany a blood donation is needed every seven seconds.

Conditions for donating blood:
• Of legal age
• Healthy & fit, at least 50 kg
• Official identification document with photo

+++ Happy Birthday, Christoph Klarer +++

This week we have another birthday boy in our ranks, Lilien defender Christoph Klarer will be 24 years old on Friday (June 14th). The Austrian came to the Bölle from Fortuna Düsseldorf before last season and has played 31 competitive games for the South Hesse team so far. We wish you all the best on your special day and look forward to the coming season with you!
