Much more painful than what happened on the pitch, however, were the scenes that took place in the stands after the game. Emotions are part of sport, but limits were crossed on Saturday. Darmstadt 98 stands for tolerance and respectful coexistence. We have no place for open hostility and violence: We are currently working on identifying the perpetrators of violence and will then ban them from the stadium.
In addition, we are in intensive communication with the various parts of our fan scene and the various stands areas in order to comprehensively and thoroughly process the events after the game. We welcome the open, self-critical statement from the south stand as a way to explain the momentum and negative external impact that emerged after the game.
Our unity as a lily family has made us strong over the years; we continue to rely on dialogue and exchange even in difficult times. We ask all lily fans to listen to each other, give each other space and approach each other when dealing with these incidents. We as a club will actively support this process with the help of our fan support, the fan advisory board and the club management.
