Teamwork for nature: The 4th tree planting campaign with Krombacher!
For the fourth time, SV Darmstadt 98 has organised a reforestation campaign together with its partner Krombacher “Under the Sign of the Lily”. Last weekend (November 16th), around 70 enthusiastic Lily fans who arrived by bus from Darmstadt got involved and planted around 3,500 young trees on an approximately 8,000 square meter area of forest in the Hofstetten district of Kleinwallstadt. The skilled workers on hand provided the necessary equipment, while the Krombacher Brewery took care of the food for the volunteers.
Under the guidance of forest director Jost Arnold from the County’s Forestry Office in Erbach and district manager Hubert Astraschewsky, oak and black walnut saplings were planted in the ground, adapted to the location – an important contribution to the sustainable reforestation of the local forests. Kleinwallstadt’s mayor Thomas Köhler was also there and was particularly pleased that so many fans had come from Darmstadt.
The campaign is part of the project “We Lilien – Together for Nature Conservation”, which the Krombacher brewery has been actively supporting since the beginning of the partnership with SV 98 and supports it with various initiatives – such as the regular tree planting campaigns.
The campaign in Kleinwallstadt is part of a successful series that shows how consistently SV Darmstadt 98 and Krombacher are committed to nature conservation: In 2021, 3,500 trees were supported at Erbach, in 2022 a further 3,500 at Eulbach and in 2023 4,000 trees were added at Michelstadt. With this year’s campaign there are now a total of 15,000 seedlings established.
All efforts are already looking forward to the next edition in 2025.
