+++ "I'm a guy who always laughs" +++

Jean-Paul Boëtius is a real cheerful person. A cheerful nature with a fighting heart. In our conversation, gratitude is a word that he uses frequently. “I’m very grateful to be back on the pitch and to be part of the team,”. The midfielder continued: “Thanks to all the Darmstadt 98 fans who gave me a very warm welcome.” The 30-year-old has now been under contract with the Lilies for a good three weeks and says he was excellently received. Something that speaks for both the team and himself. Because his laugh is contagious. “I’m a guy who’s always laughing,” he says. “I try to have a positive influence on the people around me. The easiest way to do this is to laugh,” explains Boëtius. The full interview is on our YouTube Channel.

Next Sunday (February 16th) the SV 98 U21s will play their first competitive game of the new year. Kick-off against VfB 1905 Marburg is at 2:30pm on the artificial turf pitch in the youth performance center in Darmstadt. Good luck, guys!

+++ Strong weekend for the young teams +++

The U17 won the Hessen Cup with a confident 3-0 win against JFV Nidda/Schotten. After a goalless first half, the team showed its strength in the second half with goals in the 49th minute and two more goals in the final quarter of an hour and thus moved into the 2nd round. The U17s continue this weekend in the main round of the DFB youth league: On Saturday (February 15th/2pm) the young Lilies will be playing at SC Freiburg.

The U19 also impressed: Last Sunday (February 9), the team celebrated an impressive 4-1 home win against SSV Ulm in the main round of the DFB youth league. With four points from two games, the team is currently in first place in Group E. The next opponent is SV Sandhausen on Saturday (15.02/1pm). The game will be played in the Walter Reinhard Stadium in Sandhausen.

+++ Fan team: goal spectacle in the test match +++

The spectators saw 13 goals last weekend on Ostendstrasse in Pfungstadt. However, the SV Darmstadt 98 fan team lost 8-5 against SC 1910 Käfertal II in their second test match of this winter preparation. The next test is already imminent: next Sunday (February 16th) the “zwote Zwote” will welcome TSV Bullau. Kick-off is at 4pm. There are a total of two more test games on the program before the competitive season starts again on March 9th.

+++ eFootballers come away empty-handed +++

After the great success against the eFootball players from FC Bayern Munich, the Darmstadt eSports players were unfortunately unable to improve against SV Elversberg. The first double encounter was particularly annoying, in which the Lilies conceded the decisive goal in the 84th minute for a 4-5 defeat. An outstanding win by Nassim in the first singles game could not turn things around, as Kaan narrowly lost the last singles 3:4. In the end, the eLilien had to accept a painful defeat. But the next chance is coming soon! On Thursday (February 13th/6pm) the boys will meet SC Freiburg, who are currently behind the Darmstadt team in the table.

+++ All the best! +++

210 competitive games for SV Darmstadt 98. 22 goals and another 34 assists. He achieved the “Miracle of Bielefeld” with the Lilies and the subsequent march into the 1st Bundesliga. More than that. On the first Bundesliga matchday, he scored a brace in the 2-2 draw against Hannover 96 for South Hesse’s first first division point in decades. He was also there when the Lilies secured safety in the German top flight at the end of this season. Marcel Heller. The offensive player was under contract at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor from 2013 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2020. And this week he can look forward to his 39th birthday, which he celebrates on Wednesday (February 12). We wish you all the best, Helle!

+++ Happy Birthday +++

Back number? 98! From 2004 to 2006, Matías Esteban Cenci – also better known as “Che” at Böllenfalltor – played for SV Darmstadt 98. The center forward was celebrated by the Lilies fans during this time for both his tireless efforts and his open nature. In a total of 61 competitive games, the Argentine scored 18 times. After stints in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt and Sandhausen, he returned to the SVD for the 2010/11 season and laid the foundation for promotion to the 3rd league with the Lilies in that first half of the season. On Wednesday (February 12th) Cenci celebrates his 47th birthday. We thank you for your commitment and wish you on your special day: ¡Feliz cumpleaños, “Che”!

+++ Two presidential days of honour +++

In addition to SV 98’s away game at Eintracht Braunschweig, there are also two presidential birthdays coming up next weekend. It starts on Saturday (February 15th) when Anne Baumann celebrates her special day. The member of the executive board – responsible for finance – is 45 years old. Things continue straight away on Sunday (February 16): Vice President Markus Pfitzner can celebrate his 56th birthday.
