When the game kicked off, the Lilies tried to control the game straight away, which they initially succeeded in doing. Afterwards the momentum changed every minute, but the Darmstadt team hardly had any chances to score. In the 43rd minute the time had come: SV 98 won the ball in the center and played it well forward. At the end of this clean attack, Nico Baier only had to push the ball over the line to make it 1-0.
After the break, SV Steinbach approached the game more offensively and played with increased risk. Due to Steinbacher’s high positioning, the Junglilien repeatedly came in front of the goal through counterattack opportunities – including twice with striker Fabio Torsiello, who made the score 2-0 in the 53rd minute and then 3-0 in the 78th with a double strike. The hosts then came close again and reduced the score to 1:3 on 83 minutes through Max Stadler. In a turbulent phase in which the Lilies had many set pieces against them, Mika Schlosser made it 4-1 in stoppage time at the end of the encounter.
„It was another very good performance for us. In the end we won the game by one or two goals too high, but we still deserved it. It was important for us to have continued to extend our winning streak. Now we can “It’s about moving on,” Daniel Petrowsky told sv98.de.
The boys continue next Sunday (November 3rd). The Junglilien are expecting another away game at TSV Steinbach Haiger II. The game will be played at 2.30pm at Forsthausstraße 49 in Haiger. The team looks forward to any support.
