“Today only the three points count”

Important. The Lilies picked up three crucial points in their home game against Greuther Fürth. Thanks to Isaac Lidberg scoring the decisive goal after 79 minutes, SV Darmstadt 98 won 1-0. Darmstadt's protagonists were accordingly happy with the outcome of the game in front of their home crowd. What did the winning goal scorer and Clemens Riedel have to say? How do Florian Kohfeldt and Jan Siewert sum up the 90 minutes at the Bölle? Here are all the comments from the game.

Florian Kohfeldt:

„It was a tough game. Especially in the first half, there were few to no scoring opportunities on either side. After the break, we were a bit more active, but without being outstanding. The 1-0 came after winning the ball in a counter-pressing match, which I’m very pleased about. Then it was a superb pass from Boetius to Lidberg that made it 1-0. It’s very important this season to win games like this. Because winning games like this has been what we’ve been lacking so far this season. We didn’t make any mistakes, stayed steady, and took advantage of the one opportunity we had. Overall, it was a pressure game for us – we’re still not through, but it was still an important home win. This win is very important for the overall development of the team.“

Jan Siewert:

„Congratulations to Darmstadt on the win. We simply didn’t play well today. We wanted to keep the opponent away from the goal and close down the half spaces. We did that in the first half. However, we weren’t able to capitalise on our counterattacks. Then, in the second half, it was basically a typical 0-0 game. A game in which one chance decided the outcome.“

Isac Lidberg:

„The win feels very good. It wasn’t the prettiest game, perhaps not so attractive for the spectators because there were hardly any chances, but today only the three points count. We showed a very good attitude, worked hard, and didn’t shy away from any challenge. We knew we probably wouldn’t get as many chances today and therefore had to stay focused. Even for me as a striker, these games aren’t necessarily the most fun. But it’s all the more important to be ready for the moment. Fortunately, that worked out today. Now we have six games left, there are still 18 points up for grabs, so we can’t talk about staying in the league yet. For that, we have to win a few more games.“

Clemens Riedel:

„We’re very relieved about the win. It was a tough game in which we didn’t have many chances, but at the same time, we conceded very few. It was important to keep a clean sheet today and then show efficiency going forward. Overall, it was a good team performance because we defended everything in the final stages, too. We really wanted this win. Ultimately, the points count. Three home wins in a row, all without conceding a goal, the Bölle is gradually becoming a fortress again. Now we hope we can also pick up points away in Berlin.“
