Transfer News: Kehl becomes the Lilies‘ next new signing.
SV 98 can announce another new signing ahead of the start of training on Sunday (June 28). Lars Kehl is joining the "Lilies" from VfL Osnabrück on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract.
Paul Fernie: „Lars is a player who poses a significant goal threat from attacking midfield and is capable of playing the final pass. His impressive stats from the last two seasons in Osnabrück demonstrate this. We are convinced he will bring his strengths to our game and are delighted that he can join us immediately for pre-season training.“
Lars Kehl: „I’ve spent the last few weeks thinking about my future and the next step in my career. I felt the best about Darmstadt relatively quickly, as both the sporting prospects and the club as a whole really appeal to me. I can’t wait to step onto the training pitch with my new teammates for the first time.“
Kehl came through the youth academy at SC Freiburg, progressing through all the youth teams starting in 2013 and playing for SCF’s second team in the 3. Liga from the summer of 2021. He recorded 15 goal contributions in 66 matches for the club. In the summer of 2023, the right-footed player moved to Osnabrück, making ten appearances in the 2. Bundesliga for VfL during his debut season. Over the past two seasons, Kehl played a total of 70 3. Liga matches for Osnabrück; the former youth international scored 15 goals and provided 18 assists. Last season, Kehl played a key role in VfL’s promotion, recording 20 goal contributions in 36 games.
Kehl will wear the number 22 shirt for the Lilies.

Bundesliga Confirms Matchdays 3 to 6
The Bundesliga finalised the match schedules for matchdays three through six on Wednesday (July 15th): Darmstadt's home game against Hannover 96 on matchday three will take place on Sunday. This will be followed by their away game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday at 1pm. The home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Friday evening and the away game in Wolfsburg, also on Friday evening, have also been confirmed.
