U21: 2–0 Defeat in Fernwald

After the decisive result last week (5-0 against Hünfelder SV), it was particularly important for the U21 Young Lilies to show composure and play as a united team. The SVD succeeded in this from the start: The blue and whites stood compact and looked for solutions. Nevertheless, the Lilies lacked the penetration in the final third to create a threat in front of the opponent’s goal. FSV Fernwald had the first significant chance, which they initially defended. In the 36th minute, the score was 1-0 following a throw-in in which the 98ers were not sufficiently decisive. Shortly before the break, there was another opportunity to equalise, but the 98ers failed to capitalise.

The match remained largely even in the second half. Both teams engaged in many duels and attempted to create scoring opportunities. Despite their best efforts and a committed final phase, SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team failed to level. Instead, Fernwald capitalised on a counterattack shortly before the end to score the decisive goal, making the final score 2-0.

All in all, it wasn’t a satisfactory result, but the team’s attitude and fighting spirit were positive. The Junglilien (Young Lilies) aim to build on this next Wednesday (October 22nd) against 1. Hanauer FC and reward their efforts with another win. Kick-off is at 7:30pm at the youth academy at Kastanienallee 61 in Darmstadt.
